Pet Memorial Page

Forget me not- In loving memory of our dearest patients.

We share a special human to animal bond with our patients, each patient is unique and has their own special personality that's hard to forget. We treat our patient's as if our own and when it comes time to say good bye, it can be very difficult. In honour of our patients memory this page is dedicated to them.

"forever missed and cherished, memories of you will always stay close to our hearts"

We understand how precious your pets can be to you and when they pass we send our clients something special to remember them by. For our long standing patients their owners receive: a clay paw print, forget me not seeds- for their owners to plant in memory of them and a sympathy card with an ink paw print on it.

                    ~ Duke 31st October – 9th April 2010 ~

duke101

The arrival of little Duke saw a disgusted inspection from the resident cat, looks thrown and questions asked of the ball of fur not yet large enough to trouble a field mouse. ‘Wee man’ (as he quickly became known as everyone had forgotten just how much wee one little puppy can have!)  grew quickly into the recognisable form of a miniature natural disaster that whirled into a full five category storm when not fast asleep.

Darkened face and features, enormous floppy ears and oversized erratically controlled feet, framed an infinitely curious mind that loomed large whenever movement was detected or fun was to be had. Unblinking, mischievous eyes seemingly drinking in the surrounding environment, on a secret mission that only he knew about. An air of confidence and exuberating sense of self awareness enveloped play, high energy duels as he relished in being alive amongst the smells, sights and sounds, how could he taste it all?

It was this fun loving and natural instinct that instantly captured all hearts and maintains the fond memories. Favourite activities such as stealing only the left of each pair of shoes from the front door only to return them unharmed to the backdoor was among the favoured games. Tasting the fine variety of plants and often inorganic materials that were to be found was also a favourite way to pass time. Confrontations with wild ducks and the endless source of amusement found in his best friend Kosta’s often grumpy protective ways. Pampered and carefree, the days were short but the entertainment endless.

It was early in his happy state that the wee man fell victim to what was suspected to be an auto immune disease that would see a rapid deterioration of his health and lead to his death. As quickly as he could bring a smile to everyone’s lips his loss was felt within the heart. Strong medications and extensive veterinary support from the exceptional staff at Calamvale Vet Clinic could only prolong the inevitable as his body began to attack itself.

It is with the greatest sadness one can say we knew and loved you little man.

May your memory eternally remind us of how life should be.
